Central Campus of Technology. established in 1972 AD in Dharan, is a constituent unitary and autonomous Science and Technology campus of Tribhuvan University. This campus offers the courses of B.Tch (Food), B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Microbiology), B.Sc. (Nutrition and Dietetics). B.Sc. (Physics), and B.Sc. (Geology). This is the forerunner campus of Food Technology education in Nepal. Central Department of Food Technology under the Institute of Science and Technolgoy, Tribhuvan University, is situated in the campus premise which offers M.Tech and PhD study in Food Technology.
The campus is situated at the isolated and quite hillock called Hattisar (altitude of 428 meter and average temperature of 310C) in the lap of spectacular Bijaypur hill in north east of Dharan, a magnificent and well off town in east of Nepal. The campus is spread in 14.2 hectares of land. The uniqueness of this campus is that this is the only T.U. constituent campus running B.Tech (Food) and the only campus in Nepal with B.Sc. (Nutrition and Dietetics) program. It obtained the status of decentralized campus in 1998 AD and autonomous campus in 2012 AD.
