Objectives of different Programs ​

The objectives envisioned by the institution at the time of its establishment in 1973 may be irrelevant at this point because the institute has mutilated at an embryonic stage. Right now, programs of diverse natures are being run in this campus. Hence, it would be appropriate to state the objectives carried by each program. 

Objectives of B. Sc. Programs

  1. To upgrade the quality of the B. Sc. programs so that T. U. science graduates can compete academically with the graduates from other Asian countries.
  2. To broaden the intellectual horizon of the students.
  3. To make the B. Sc. programs more practical and relevant to the professional needs of national development, and
  4. To provide the students with in-depth knowledge in the area of specialization.

Objectives of B. Tech. Food Technology Program

  1. To provide knowledge in food science and the principles underlying food processing.
  2. To give wider knowledge to students in advance food engineering.
  3. To acquaint students with industrial management practices, and
  4. To train the students in product specific specialization areas.

Objectives of M. Tech. Food Technology Program

  1. To impart knowledge to students about modern scientific basis of food preservation, processing, storage and packaging of food.
  2. To impart knowledge to students about different modern methods of food processing and preservation with implications of food engineering.
  3. To impart knowledge to students about process control and automation.
  4. To train the students on the use of mathematical tools to solve complex problems encountered in food manufacturing and production system.
  5. To impart knowledge about food safety aspects and functional foods.
  6. To impart in-depth knowledge and skill about industrial processing including quality aspect of different important processed food products.
  7. To facilitate research dissertation to be done independently by the students in the area of food technology.
  8. To impart knowledge to students about various aspects of industrial management including management of quality.

Objectives of B. Sc. in Nutrition & Dietetics

There is prevalence of malnutrition in most of the developing countries, including Nepal. It is the responsibility of the nation to combat it. In this regard, National Planning Commission prioritized a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics (B. Sc. ND) to address this problem in 2006. As such, the field of nutrition and dietetics is dedicated to protecting health and saving lives by deploying knowledge and expertise in the field. The program, hence, envisions the following objectives:

  1. To produce graduates with recognized clinical, public health and management skills.
  2. To produce graduates competent enough to work as nutritionist and dietitian in the hospital setting and other specialized areas such as community and public health, and food industry sector.

Objectives of Bridge Course for M. Tech. Food Technology Program

To provide B. Sc. Students background knowledge needed for M.  Tech. Food Technology study.

Objectives of M. Sc. Microbiology Program

The present curriculum aims to produce qualified microbiologists, molecular biologists, researchers and scientists as per national and international demand. The master’s degree holders will be able to use skills of modern molecular biology techniques in basic science research or in applied research areas of microbiology. The graduates will be able to work as a qualified scientist for investigating the potential uses of microorganisms to produce antibiotics, antibodies, steroids, vaccines, hormones and other products of microbial origin. The master’s degree holders will be able to work as a microbiologist and research scientist in the laboratories for monitoring, identifying and helping to control infectious diseases. They will also be able to work as qualified researchers and scientists in the institutions related to food production, crop protection and soil fertility.

Because of the diverse Academic- as well as Research Programs run at CCT, the campus has developed the responsibilities of academic- and research management upon senior and competent faculties of CCT.
